As you’ve seen in your mailbox, Downtown money and influence has made its way into our District 6 council race – and is trying to buy your vote.
This is the same Downtown power structure that tried to rezone south University City, and is supporting the unregulated construction of ADUs in our neighborhoods.
This is the same developer money hoping to drop upwards of 23,000 new units of housing in Mira Mesa around Mira Mesa Blvd. and Camino Ruiz, without any concern for the fact that Mira Mesa already has the worst traffic congestion north of I-8, we have little if any effective transit, and our roads are the worst in the city.
Plus, none of this new housing will be affordable for anyone who works for a living.
What are they thinking? What is going on in our city?
The good news is that when we work together, we get results. For example, we did it by bringing attention to the dangerous lane repainting on Gold Coast Drive.
We did it by working with Supervisor Lawson-Remer’s office to help secure funding to restore the Mira Mesa Epicentre.
And we did it by pushing back against the proposal to rezone south University City.
For the last 14 years, Downtown special interests, developers, and the black-tie donor class have used our council seat to advance their aims. That’s why our roads can’t ever get fixed. That’s our infrastructure has been left to decay. This cycle needs to end. That’s why I ran as the endorsed Democrat for the D6 seat in 2018, and it’s why I’m running in 2022.
With your vote, we can break the stranglehold of Downtown special interests and City Hall insiders that ignore our voices and communities.
Our campaign is about empowering neighborhoods, listening to neighbors, and making our city a great place to live, raise families, start businesses, and preserve our environment. That’s why we say Neighborhoods First!
The time is now. Skip the Downtown hype and vote for a proven neighborhood leader and advocate to be your next District 6 councilmember.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and be sure to go all the way to the end of your ballot to find the District 6 race!
