Between Flag Day today and Juneteenth on Friday there’s plenty of events happening this week, but I hope you’ll take a few minutes to register and phone in your support for the county’s 2021-23 budget this Wednesday, June 16, at 5:30 p.m.
The budget proposal includes a reallocation of funds to facilitate the transfer of the Mira Mesa Epicentre from the city to the county.
Located across the street from Mira Mesa High School, the Epicentre was established by the city in 1999 as a teen center and space for the Mira Mesa Theater Guild, and grew into a cultural center and venue for local and national bands.
You may recall your e-comments helped deliver a unanimous vote from the Board of Supervisors last month to include the Epicentre transfer in the new county budget, which will enable the facility’s restoration and revitalization.
You can submit a new e-comment up to and during the meeting on the 16th expressing your support for the Epicentre transfer, or register before the meeting to call in. There’s more about the effort to restore the Epicentre, which closed in 2016 and has since fallen into disrepair, earlier on our blog page.
Thanks for your support!
