Environmental Democrats University City Walk for Tommy Hough
October 16, 2022, 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
Join us on Sunday, Oct. 16th, at 9:30 a.m. at the southwest corner of University Village Park at Cather Ave. and Florey St. (where Gullstrand becomes Cather) in University City for a special neighborhood canvass with San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action, the only environmentally-minded affinity club in the San Diego County Democratic Party.
We’ll also be canvassing for our friends Cody Petterson for School Board, and Barbara Bry for County Assessor, Recorder, and County Clerk.
If you haven’t canvassed with us before, you’ll want to download the PDI app to your phone and our team can train you to log in and load your turf. If you’ve never gone canvassing with us before, we can pair you with one of our veteran canvassers first.
The Downtown establishment continues to pour hundreds of thousands of dollars into independent expenditures and political action committees (PACs) to maintain the status quo in District 6, even as our working and middle class neighbors pay the highest electricity rates in the nation and the highest water and sewage rates in the state, road repairs and park maintenance have been flattened by the city’s $86 million 101 Ash Street settlement, new housing developments are unlikely to have any sizable parks to accommodate the needs of residents, and we have little hope of expanded transit anytime soon outside of the Blue Line on the west edge of District 6 in UTC.
Our remedy? Talk with neighbors and share the news to vote for Tommy for a change of direction at City Hall – and share the good news about Cody’s and Barbara’s campaigns as well with help from the Environmental Democrats, a club Tommy co-founded with other environmental believers in 2014.
As always, bring water, sunscreen, a hat, and be sure your phone is fully charged.
University Village Park is best accessed by taking Gullstrand St. north from Governor Dr. to where Gullstrand St. becomes Cather Ave. at Florey Street. See you at the southwest corner of the park!
