50 Years of Right-Wing Media Misinformation

Join me as I give a presentation on the history and impact of the last 50 years of right-wing media misinformation at the Rancho Bernardo Democratic Club via Zoom on Monday, Aug. 23, at 7 p.m.
From the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine to the notorious Telecommunications Act of 1996, a legacy of seemingly minor decisions and legislative policies have enabled the bubble of right-wing media to grow, in which adherence to accuracy has seldom been required, the tone of conversation has long been vitriolic, and the goal has never been to educate or enlighten – but to frighten, promote straw men arguments, and sow a needless distrust of government institutions and norms – all for political and commercial purposes.
In serving as a laboratory for conservative policy, right-wing media has increasingly promoted a radical nihilism with little connection to reality. Its only interest is making sure you tune in tomorrow.
