Support Josie Caballero at a Special San Diego Fundraiser

My friend and former campaign manager Josie Caballero was in San Diego for a special fundraising event in Hillcrest on April 24th. This event has now passed. — T.H.

Election season is upon us and Americans are demanding change with an end to corruption and the affordability crisis.

To that end, I’m happy to report my good friend Josie Caballero — who served as campaign manager on my first general election campaign for San Diego City Council in 2018 — is running for an at-large county council seat in her new(er) home in Montgomery County, Maryland, and she’ll be in San Diego this Friday, April 24th, as her supporters and friends host a fundraiser for her at the Uptown Tavern at 1236 University Ave. in Hillcrest at 5:30 p.m. I hope you can make it.

Josie is bringing in serious endorsements like the Sierra Club and local AFL-CIO, and raising funds with this special San Diego event for her Montgomery County campaign, where she relocated several years ago when she took a position with the National Center for Transgender Equality in Washington D.C. that led to variety of important roles, including director of special projects and leading the U.S. Transgender Survey.

Born and raised in Texas, Josie initially made San Diego her home after her honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy. She ran for San Diego City Council in 2016, was the founding president of the San Diego Progressive Democratic Club and one of the county party’s leading Bernie Sanders advocates, and in 2018 came aboard to direct day-to-day operations of my first San Diego City Council campaign. I’m so very proud to support Josie today.

Plan now to attend this special homecoming event for Josie this Friday, April 24th, at 5:30 p.m. and show your support for a courageous, steady leader who first earned her hard-won political stripes by fighting for change and a progressive future in San Diego.

Even if you can’t make it to the Uptown Tavern in Hillcrest on Friday, help a veteran and former San Diegan with a contribution to Josie’s campaign for change today!
