Join Tommy and fellow Mira Mesa and District 6 neighbors as we address the City of San Diego Planning Commission on Thursday, Feb. 17th, at 9 a.m. to oppose approval of the proposed On Point Tech Center at the southeast corner of I-805 and Carroll Canyon Rd. that was initially rejected by the Mira Mesa Planning Group in November. Here is the Zoom link for Thursday’s meeting.

Denied by the Mira Mesa Planning Group by a 9-5 vote at that body’s Nov. 15th meeting, the proposed Community Plan Amendment Initiation is to construct a four-building, multi-story office complex on the south side of Carroll Canyon Rd. in a riparian area protected as Multiple Species Conservation Program (MSCP) land within the creekbed of Carroll Creek at the west end of Carroll Canyon just east of the creek’s entrance into Peñasquitos Creek.

The proposal is in complete violation of the Mira Mesa Community Plan, which forbids building in riparian areas and their associated “upland,” or uphill areas, and development in the area would also pinch off the last remaining wildlife corridor that enables mule deer to move between Miramar and Sorrento Mesa.

You can also submit a written comment via this city form, though comments are limited to 200 words. The On Point Tech Center proposal is agenda item 2, project number 696700.

You can also submit remarks and written materials for submission into the record via e-mail at planningcommission@sandiego.gov. Be sure your remarks are submitted within 24 hours before the meeting to ensure there is time to distribute them to the Planning Commission.
